Feeling Festive

So, no baby yet and the dogs are already getting short changed! They wear me out these days. Wanting in and out....wanting to play...bark, bark, bark....so my patience has worn a little thin with them. Wrigley is especially naughty. He has gone through a little destructive phase (cell phones, shoes, glasses, the back door, the list goes on). I'm afraid of what he'll do when he sees bright flashy baby toys or tiny baby socks. He's gonna keep me on my toes.

I did spend some time with him the other night, dressing him in his holiday "finest" for a photo or two. I think he looks pretty snazzy in a dress shirt collar and seasonal tie. Ha! Looks ready for a day at work, or a holiday party!

His favorite place to be right now is on my stomach. I admit that I'm weak and let him lay there since I know he's out of trouble and he's quiet. Scott swears he can hear the baby....who knows. He gives me funny looks when she kicks him though.

I don't have a tie for lucy, just a red bandana. If I put any clothing on her, Wrigley annoys her EVEN more (the joys of a little brother). She doesn't look too happy in this picture. She's either tired of my crazy picture taking over the years or wasn't feeling well. When I pull a camera out...she looks away. Stinker.

She's been dealing with MORE health issues lately. Lucy is almost 7 years old and has been one medical problem after another. She had UTI issues when she was born since she wasn't put together correctly (that's my polite way of putting it). She had 2 types of mange when I got her (ugh...). Just over a year old she had a run-in with a crock pot and has a permanent bald spot on her rump. Since then, we've dealt with the WORST a Westie can deal with-----ALLERGIES! it's been a nightmare. She has been tested and her allergies include...well, everything. Grass, Cats, Penicillin, dust mites, food mites, the list continues. She has tried allergy shots, but stays on an immunosuppressant drug, goes on and off steroids (as she developed Cushings disease at one point for staying on them too long), antibiotics, ear drops (her ears swell from the allergies and we get ear infections), and antihistamines. We actually have a chart to check off all her drugs. Her newest affliction is joint/arthritis problems. She takes occasional doggy pain meds for this (when she isn't on steroids! ahh!!) and glucosamine. I didn't know it was this bad until I came home from work to a dog walking on 3 legs. Eventually it will require surgery on her little doggy knee, but we are avoiding that now with her advanced age!! It sure is a good thing I love this little money pit more than you should love a dog! Only rainy days really slow her down with the joint problems.

Little Libby had a second shower in Memphis the Saturday after Turkey Day. It was hosted by her Aunt Erin, my Aunt Sarah, and her adorable, fashionable cousins---Mattie and Hailey! (I have to say that M & H did a great job...especially for their first times! ha!)

Time to play a little "catch-up". I'm lousy at maintaining this page. Hopefully, once this little girl arrives I'll have more exciting pictures to include!

Here are a couple of pictures from Libby's baby shower in Nashville. My Aunt Bonnie had her house all decked out in pink for the day! The food was GREAT and the cake looks like the wall in her bedroom. Pretty clever!

Libby had a surprise guest at her shower. Her Aunt Erin flew allllll the way from Galveston to be there. She and my Mom had it planned for some time. Pretty stinkin' sweet if you ask me. It meant alot that she left her girls and flew all that way.

My Mom gave Libby her christening gown. When Erin's girls were born she had dresses made for them from HER wedding gown and they were BEAUTIFUL! For Libby, she used my Grandmother's dress. Isn't it beautiful?? I can't wait to see a chubby little baby in it. What a lucky baby to have such an awesome Grandma! (or 'Honey' as she is called).

Speaking of great gifts......Libby's Grandpa made her dresser/changer for the nursery! It is beautiful!!! Her room is ready for her now!! I think it's so sweet she'll have something that was handmade just for her! I love my dad and I'm certain that Libby will love him too!

Wildlife??

Look what Scott brought home.....uhh...Apparently the store he works at had a bunch of baby snakes in the stockroom. He found this tiny little guy one night (and brought him home much to my dismay). The next one he found was a little bigger and meaner...so he left him there. I did touch it, but it didn't live here long. Oh....did I mention that it was a baby constrictor???

So I'm a total dork and I kept talking about this advertisement that was on tv for delta fair. They kept advertising rides, games, music groups and 'monkeys riding dogs'! The first time I heard it, I had to rewind the tv to make sure I heard correctly. We did go see them (which I found to be pretty entertaining) and eat a funnel cake! I love greasy fair food. I only regret that I didn't test out the "deep fried reeses cup"!! Next year I suppose!

Here I am at 26 weeks.....big mommy! (you should see me now that I'm 30 weeks!! AH!!) This picture was taken at Church at the First Time Mom's Group.

This is sweet Libby's first photo. She wasn't really feeling up to smiling at the camera. They had a hard time getting her to move her hands, cord, etc. away from her face. Her little feet stayed crossed again at the ankle except in this picture. You can see her left hand in the back, left knee, and right food. She sure looks flexible.

So....I've been busy working on getting all the things I want for Libby's room. It's getting there!!!! Her wonderful grandpa is making her dresser/changing table because all the ones I could find that I liked were OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive! What I've seen of his construction looks awesome and is going to make her room perfect!! Libby's bunny chandelier finally arrived and I added shades, crystals and ribbons to it. Heck, I want to sleep in this room.

So, life is pretty routine around here. I like it that way. I stay exhausted so I like my life as simple as possible these days. Work is WEARING me out. We're giving flu shots like crazy, and answering question after question on Swine flu. Whew. Maternity leave will be a very welcome break. I'm slowly getting Libby's room how I want it. It's taking some time though. Fortunately, I've got until the end of December.

Here is the newest addition in the room. I wanted a super comfy chair and we got one! It's blue and white gingham. My dad is building a dresser/changing table for the room and I can't hardly wait!! I've ordered a bunny chandelier to hang in here and it shipped today! Hooray!

Here I am at 23 weeks. I'm 25 now and I feel like I got enormous overnight. Not willing to take a picture of the "hugeness" just yet. At least, she is growing good!

The sweetest surprise!!

When we FINALLY got home from our trip (I'll be happy to explain later, but I don't wanna think about it right now!) I got the best surprise!! My parents had painted the nursery a few weeks back so we could "go from there" once we knew what the baby was!

Anyways, we had planned to spend Labor Day (well, I was just gonna supervise-ha!) painting the REST of the walls. I'd picked out that I wanted trees for a girl, and was still deciding between kites, planes, and hot air balloons for a boy. My Mom had recruited her best friend from kindergarten (they've been friends that long----not really STILL in school!) and my godmother. These two decided to be sneaky and do it while we were away!!

My parents also bought Libby her shower present early! HER CRIB!!!! My dad set it up and it's looking like a sweet little girl's room. I couldn't help but cry when I saw (darn pregnancy hormones!). I had found bedding I liked and so they put it in the crib for the full effect!! (I didn't even notice there was no mattress in there!!). My Aunt Sarah picked out her first book. It has the sweetest little bunny in it.

AND-my sister made a bow holder to hang on the wall. She had already made 2 for her girls to keep all their hair bows on. It matches her room perfectly. (look how many bows it will hold!! Poor Scott and Ken....who knew their lives would be so girly!!)

So, here is her AMAZING room so far. I LOVE IT!! Come see it in person, it's even cuter!

Today we had our 18 week doctor visit! And it's a.........................................................

Girl!!

Our sweet baby, now has an identity all her own. Little baby Libby is 9 ounces and growing!

It was Wonderful to see her little legs and face. We can't wait to see her and HOLD her in January!

She had her skinny long legs all stretched out. Maybe she'll be tall like her Mommy! She did have her little ankles crossed the whole time. What a well-mannered little lady. Less work to teach her later right? ha!

This is Libby's face. We rotated the picture to make it easier. You can make out her chin, lips, nose and dark spots of her eyes (they start to blur a little....that's the picture, not the baby!) I'm probably VERY biased, but I think she's BEAUTIFUL!

Baby's First Photo

Here he or she is!! Cute huh? I was excited when the ultrasounds started looking like a baby (and that the baby is in there alll alone! I love my twin nieces, but I think this girl will do much better one at a time!)

The baby is 11 weeks in this picture. Just 2 tiny inches long! We'll find out very soon if it's pink booties or blue booties! Baby has come a long way from this picture, so I'm anxious to see what we look like now!

BEFORE!!!

We are officially starting to work on Baby B's room!! The carpets have been cleaned and it's getting a fresh coat of baby blue paint this weekend. Once, we know what the little guy is...we'll go from that point decorating. I wanted baby blue either way, boy or girl. I took pics of this empty boring room since I love to scrapbook and wanted to document it all!

I didn't really plan to put a picture of my tummy online (I was hoping it wouldn't be THIS visible yet!) But, I'm embracing the tummy and not trying to disguise it any longer. It just means Baby Baird is getting big and healthy (it's probably all the chocolate milk and bananas the little guy wants all the time). So...here we are at 16 weeks and 4 days!

It's been awhile!

I guess my life is just so boring....or else so BUSY....I haven't had time to post anything new. Most of my free time these days I spend napping to catch up on sleep! I'm counting down to the wedding...and tying up lose ends (there seem to be quite a few!). I've got to spend a lot of time with the sweet nieces and my sister too!

I did escape Memphis and go to Florida for a quick weekend with my friend Heather. We sat on the beach for 2 days straight. It rained the day we left. I think we got a pretty good deal on the trip. We had a 2 bed 2 bath condo (bigger than some apartments I've lived in) right across from the nicest beach.

I also had company, as my friend Angela came into town for graduation! We got to spend a little time together while she was here, but part of that included being locked out of the house! It's always something!! Congrats to her though!!! I still remember when she first started school...and I first started my "big-girl" pharmacy job....moving to Memphis at the same time!

Next week we are having our engagement pictures made....and the wedding will be here fast!

I don't know about you...but I'm ready for a vacation....

Oh...and of course the puppies say hello!! (They really are starting to look alike huh?)

Where? Opryland Hotel!!

How excited am I---Very! I feel like I'm getting alot accomplished.

We are gonna get married at the Delta Pavilion in the Opryland Hotel...because there isn't anywhere prettier.

Here is a picture I took in January when I stayed there after Erin's baby shower....not imagining I'd be faxing in a contact for the place just 2 months later!!

Whatcha think?? Oh...and the ballroom for the reception is just as pretty!! The ceiling was made to look like an inverted wedding cake......

THE BEST TRIP YET!!

So, I'm being a little biased.....we just got back from San Francisco. I'd have to say it was a pretty great trip. We got engaged while we were there! Scott had a surprise hotel room in Carmel, and a crazy sweet fire on the beach (with smores and a blanket to sit on and roses...EVERYTHING!!). I was pretty shocked with how thoughtful and sweet he was. I felt pretty stinkin' special. Oh...and did I mention my beautiful ring??!! So...anyways....the rest of the trip was great. We went to Alcatraz for a night tour (a little creepy when it got dark in my opinion!), Muir woods and saw ridiculously tall trees, a day in Napa Valley (I really enjoyed the wine AND chocolate tasting!). We saw Coit tower and rode a cable car (scott said it wasn't that cool since memphis has one...but i was not willing to walk up one more steep street at that point!)
